staff development

• What makes a good team? How does a team get better? How is a team successful? How does one turn a unsuccessful team into a successful one?

Good people make good teams, great people make great teams. The team needs a clear direction, the right team of players and sound finances. Winning teams play to win. Practice like you play and play like you practice and you are sure to succeed. Great teams work on building their staff to be great people which is the key to success. Know each player on your team individually, have a clear cut mission, group identity, feeling of cohesion, communication, and a constant striving to be the best

I lack discipline in my exercise routine. I haven't been to PT since my car broke down so the ball falls in my court to work out on my own. I haven't been able to fit it into my schedule I've been so busy trying to catch up. My diet that I need to follow to loose weight is virtually non existent. I don't over indulge but I don't follow a strict diet either. Over booking my schedule is another thing I tend to do, but I've just come to accept it because there is no way of getting around it. Quitting smoking for me has become an issue of lacking discipline because I have the will power, I just don't care enough. As terrible as it sounds. I'm just don't see the long term implications as an issue. I'll quite for the week and buy a pack on the weekend. I need to just tough up and do it. I don't think I have a fifth area. My friend Susie has a lot of self discipline she is involved in so much on campus and takes crazy amounts of classes and yet always has time to help out her friends or just anyone in need. I am accountable for my physical fitness, my grades, and my little child. I am accountable to myself because I hold myself to higher standards than anyone else holds me too.

my mission

I am at my best when I stick to my routine.
I will try to prevent times when I can't see the end.
I will enjoy my work by finding employment where I can participate and problem solve.
I will find enjoyment in my personal life through reading.
I will find opportunities to use my natural talents and gifts such as art work, being a mommy, passion, and writing.
I can do anything I set my mind to. I will obtain several degrees.
My life's journey is to grow, inspire, learn, lead, and set an example for Mason. I'm attending school, staying busy, and making improvements. In the end I will get a degree and give back to my world. The entire time setting an example for my son.
I will be a person who "was productive. Her passion for life consumed her. We never had the best but we always made the best of what we had. Her smile lit up a room and her happiness was contagious. She could do anything she decided to do which fueled her to do everything. She nurtured my creativity and desire to make a difference in my world."
My most important future contribution to others will be inspiration to the world. You can do what every you think you can do..

I will stop procrastinating and start working on:

* quit smoking
* lose weight
* personal discipline

I will strive to incorporate the following attributes into my life:

* not cuttin corners
* motivation
* humor

I will constantly renew myself by focusing on the four dimensions of my life:

* PT Every week day morning. Parking garage, abs, push ups
* motivational and inspirational books
* Talk, write
* talk, write, go out, have fun now and again

Who's who

I meet a lot of people Thursday including, a zoology professor, financial aid director, and some one from the Bursar's office. I can't remember a single name because there were so many (and I'm naturally bad with names. I talked most to the union director, mostly small topics like children. She was sweet and helped to remind me that most people have children and they are not obstacles but new opportunities. Everyone holds me to a higher impression than I feel like I deserve sometimes just because I'm a mom. Not that it's easy, but every one has a part of their life that takes up a lot of time, the key is scheduling! I loved the advice and stories that were shared. Just as the police officer said you have to explain to the community why you are there and do things the way you do. I feel that a lot of people don't understand why school is so important to me or why I am attending. They feel that the daycare and food assistance can be better spent. Just because I don't have a job currently does not mean that I'm not giving back to the community in many ways or that I will not five back later in life after attaining my degree. Stay on the horse is something that I have taken to heart. My car broke down Thursday evening and its to hard to make it to all my prior obligations, doctor appointments, pt, school, midterms... I have to remember to just keep with it and stay on, even if I'm hitting and missing a lot, I just need to hold on. The advice I'd give to freshman is to talk to your instructors, make an impression, do your best work, show yourself. Use the resources on campus, they exist for your use.
